The Fraser River Fiddlers

toe-tappin' tunes from Richmond, BC

About us

About the director:

Some years back, Lorraine Grescoe–an acclaimed Richmond, BC violin teacher and former symphony violinist–went on holiday to Nova Scotia, heard some old-time fiddle music and decided that the East Coast shouldn’t get to keep such a good thing all to itself.
In 1992, she formed the Fraser River Fiddlers from a group of her own violin students ranging in age from six to 16. The faces may have changed in the intervening years, but the high musical standard–and the fun factor–has remained rock steady.

About the kids:

Some are no more than six years old, others are polished stage veterans just twice that age!  The talented troupe has  performed  for special events throughout the Lower Mainland such as the opening of Richmond’s new City Hall, the Tall Ships Gala, Robbie Burns dinners, the Maritime Festival, the Cavalcade of Stars, and the Steveston Salmon Stomp as well as at benefit concerts and seniors’ homes.
